I’ve seen so many people go through this. I get it. You have goals, you’re so ready, then something comes up. Work asks you for overtime to hit a deadline, or the kids need help with a project that just happens to be due TOMORROW. So you miss a few days with plans of going back but it just doesn’t happen.
Where did the motivation go?
What I need you to understand that lack of motivation comes from lack of vision. And when I say vision, I don’t mean a vision board. I mean who do you want to be? How do you want people to view you and interact with you? And what types of relationships do you want to have?
Because the scale isn’t motivating enough. There isn’t enough of an emotional connection to your actual weight. If there was you would never get 20,30,40lbs away from where you want to be. You would make changes way before that.
The only real lasting motivation comes from a vision of who you want to be, a vision so specific and so exciting that nothing stops you from getting there. It describes the type of life you want to live. Let’s look at an example.
If you tell me you want to be strong, healthy and happy and I talked to your closest friends and family would they tell me that your a happy person? Would they say that you are excited about life, your always on adventures trying new things and it makes their day to talk to you – you radiate energy and positivity?
Or would they say you are late everywhere you go, you’re moody and even aggressive, you complain about not being able to do the things you want and you never go out anymore or answer back texts.
The Solution to Lack of Motivation
The solution to your lack of motivation is simple. Create the vision of the life you want to live. Ask yourself
- What type of person do I want to be
- How do I want others to see me and treat me
- What types of relationships do I want to have
Like I said, the solution is simple, but it’s far from easy. Looking at your life and your habits and actually changing them will be one of the hardest things you’ll ever do in your life.
Going at this alone will be extremely difficult. So get a coach on your side. Someone to help with the ups and downs the struggles that are going to come with making this type of change.
